We at Care Matters Wales believe that sexual
sensitivity, sex awareness and quality training around matters of sexuality are essential for all who work with vulnerable
clients.
We believe that sensitivity towards clients' sexuality is an essential part of the respect
agenda. It is about ensuring they:
*are full citizens equal in status and value to other citizens of the same age;
*have the same expectations of positive social relations and roles within family and community;
*have a right to decide for themselves and to join in all decision making
which affects their lives, with support if necessary;
*have access to the support of their families
and the communities, of which they are a part, and to general and specialist public services to improve their chosen quality
of life.
(Based on the LDAG Report to the National Assembly for Wales, 2001 and the principles first expressed
in the All Wales Strategy, and later confirmed in ‘Fulfilling the Promises)
